Galveston Children’s Museum

Galveston Children’s Museum

Located at 2618 Broadway Avenue J, Galveston, TX 77550. In the heart of Galveston, the Galveston Children’s Museum is a hands-on facility for children ages two to ten. Its mission is to inspire young children to learn and play, while promoting self-directed activities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects. With a diverse selection of exhibits, the museum strives to engage children in interactive experiences and encourages creative thinking.

The Galveston Children’s Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 9:30am to 5:00pm. Visitors can also make reservations for a two-hour play slot online. During the day, there are several play areas including a climbing rock wall, an engineering zone, a biotech lab, a biomechanics lab, and a building zone. On Sundays, the museum is open from noon to 5:00pm.

Aside from exhibits, the kids’ museum has a variety of interactive themed rooms, including an engineering area, puppet theater, a kid’s clinic, and a doctor’s office. In addition, the museum offers events and special programming for children of all ages. Several local schools partner with the museum.

The museum is a wonderful addition to the community and is well worth a visit. The staff is dedicated to ensuring that children are treated fairly, and that every child can take advantage of the facility. While admission is $6 for adults and $4 for children, admission is free for children who are receiving nutrition benefits or are receiving free or reduced-price lunches from school or WIC programs. Additional info

The exhibits are designed to encourage creativity and self-directed activities in STEM subjects. The Power of Children exhibit, for example, features artifacts, interactives, and stories of Ruby Bridges, Malala Yousafzai, and Anne Frank. The museum also has a biotech lab, which hosts daily events on DNA. Another area of interest is the Reptile House, which houses live Texas rattlesnakes in glass cases.

The museum also features an Asian art wing that showcases works from India, Korea, and Japan. This exhibit is a great way for children to learn about different cultures. The museum also features a research library and two theaters. The museum has a permanent collection and a traveling exhibit gallery.

In addition to the interactive exhibits, the Galveston Children’s Museum hosts special programs for children of all ages. The museum hosts theatrical plays, musical instruments, and even an imaginary fishing experience. Children can also bring their own imaginary characters to life. The museum is a great way to bond with your children.

The Galveston Children’s museum was created by Nancy Schultz, who had a passion for education and learning. She had taught elementary school for fourteen years in San Antonio, Texas. After relocating to Galveston, Schultz worked as an educator for several local schools, including Galveston Regional Collaborative. She created the children’s museum because she believed that traditional learning in a sterile, formal environment discouraged creativity. The exhibits are designed to encourage learning through play and are interactive and intuitive. Check it out
