About Houston TX
Houston is a very diverse city and could be considered the melting pot of the South. People come from all over the world to live in the largest city in Texas, and the international community is growing at an exponential rate. As of 2010, the total population was over 2.1 million people making it the fourth largest city in the USA.
Houston Continues to Grow
Houston is rich in industrial energy and is the home of a number of oil and gas companies, as well as other Fortune 500 companies. Our city is growing in the technology sector as well. Only New York City has more Fortune 500 companies. Houston is a welcome home for small businesses. Houston also has some of the best quality health care services in the world. Houston also has more restaurants than any other city in the United States. Houstonians love to eat!
World Champions
Some sports teams call this city home. The Houston Texans of the NFL play their home games in the Reliant Arena, next to the former home of the Astros, The Astrodome. The World Champion Houston Astros of the MLB now play downtown at Minute Maid Park. The NBA has a franchise here in the Houston Rockets, which have won some NBA titles in the 1990s headed by Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler. The Houston Dynamo of the MLB just recently built a state of the art stadium called the BBVA Compass Stadium.

Houston is home to the Cynthia Woods Pavillion, Verizon Wireless Theatre, Alley Theatre in Downtown Houston, Discovery Green Park, CityCentre and a number of other attractions. Houstonians love Houston! And who could blame them! Houston is great, and the people make it even better! Who doesn’t enjoy great Southern hospitality? Houston is full of friendly, fun-loving people, and this city never poses a dull moment. There are tons of events and activities taking place every day. Houston has an array of sports teams, stadiums, the Houston Zoo, museums, venues, theaters, festivals, and plenty of activities to participate in.
Houston Professional Sports Teams
We are home of the Houston Texans, the Houston Astros, the Houston Rockets, and the Houston Dynamo. Being home to all of these wonderful sports teams is great. We love to support our teams! Texans fans can support their team and enjoy a Texans game at our Reliant Stadium during football season, don’t forget to wear blue and red! Houston Astros fans can come out to our beautiful Minute Maid Park to support their favorite baseball team. Rockets fans can support their team and enjoy a game at our Toyota Center. And last but certainly not least for soccer fans, there’s no better team to support than the Houston Dynamo, fans can come out to the newly built Compass Stadium and support
Houston Museum District
Houston is also home to an array of museums that will surely spark your interest. All of our lovely museums are located in the museum district. To entice you, even more, these museums offer free entrance on particular days. Also, the museum district annually offers Museum District Day, which is held on a Saturday and allows entry to 17 different museums for free, shuttle services to museums are also included for free, so take advantage of this incredible learning experience! To name a few museums available Houston’s museum district consists of the Museum of Natural Science, the Natural History Museum, the Fine Arts Museum, the Contemporary Arts Museum, the Children’s Museum, and the Holocaust Museum.
Live Music
For live music lovers, Houston is home to a variety of venues that offer concerts galore. For large venues that feature known artists check out Miller Outdoor Theater, the Toyota Center, the Arena Theater, Verizon Wireless Theater, or Cynthia Woods Pavilion for all the concert fun you can handle. For those that like to enjoy their music in a cozy downtown Houston location there are also venues offering great live music including; Warehouse Live, House of Blues, The Engine Room, Last Concert Café, and Fitzgerald’s. Live music lovers can’t go wrong with this many options to rock out!
Houston Theater District
Interested in catching a play or a show? Houston’s theater district will be just the place for you! You have several theaters to choose from, including; the Wortham Center, Alley Theater, the Hobby Center for Performing Arts, Jones Hall, Tuts, the Houston Grand Opera, Houston Symphony, or the Houston Ballet. Each theater offers a variety of shows to choose from so finding the show for you should be a piece of cake. Also, take note that Houston’s theater district annually hosts “Theater District Open House” in August, where the theaters in the Theater District (the first 4 on our list) open their doors to the public for free! Houston Famous Galleria Area
With life being so hectic a little relaxation is always needed, Houston’s variety of activities is the perfect stress reliever. For some shopping is a great stress reliever, luckily Houston is home to the largest mall in Texas, The Galleria, containing over 375 stores full of shopping fun. The Galleria area also includes Williams Waterwall which is a 64-foot water fountain; it’s honestly a sight to see. For those that like to enjoy an ice-cold beer Houston offers you St. Arnolds Brewing Company, enjoy tasting fresh local beer brewed in the facility, tours are also provided to give you all the information you desire about the company. Don’t forget to check out Discovery Green Park in Downtown Houston. Discovery Green is a beautiful park that also offers a variety of events and activities.
